Built for Horse Country

Before Montana was a state, it was horse country. Horses came north onto these plains in the 1700s and changed everything they touched — the Crow and Blackfeet became some of the finest horsemen on the continent, and a good string of horses became the truest measure of wealth a person could own. By the open-range days of the 1880s, nothing moved in this territory without one: not the cattle, not the mail, not the people.

That hasn't really changed. Calves are still gathered horseback, and every small town out here still marks its summer by the rodeo grounds. The Wrangler Cap is our salute to that — a washed-cotton snapback carrying the running horse under Montaña, the year we became a state, and Oro y Plata, the motto we've kept since 1889. Soft from the first wear, in a sun-faded Mauve that looks like it's already seen a season of long days.
